Claire Jones recognised at World Sports Photography Awards

Posted: 29th July 2022

Bedford Blues are proud to announce that official club photographer, Claire Jones, has been recognised with a Special Merit Award in the Rugby category at the World Sports Photography Awards.

The World Sports Photography Awards are the only global awards for sports photography. It is a competition entered by the world’s best sports photographers and judged by some of the leading names across sport, media, politics, brand and creative.

Nothing captures the emotion and passion of sport better than photography. And Jack Hughes’ majestic try (seen above) – part of our victory over London Scottish back in December – perfectly highlights what it takes to get the ball over the line, just about keeping Noah Ferdinand at bay to secure the five points.

Hughes’ try was one of fifteen photos entered by Jones into the competition and the solitary one to make it into the Top 10, therefore winning the Special Merit award.

Speaking about the recognition, Jones said: “I am very proud that one of my photos has been recognised, especially given all the talented photographers and brilliant photos in the competition.

“And I love it’s Jack Hughes’ try – it was a fabulous score taken on one of those wet, dark winter days. Rugby at its best!”
