Bedford Blues are delighted to announce that in their 50th year of business, local construction company, SDC Builders Ltd, will become the club’s main shirt sponsors for the 2022/23 campaign as part of an increased sponsorship package.
Established in 1972, SDC are one of the club’s most long-standing sponsors having begun their support of Bedford Blues 42 years ago under co-founders Bob Reynolds and Dave Ledsom (who later became the rugby club’s Chairman) to give something back to the town and its community.
Retaining headquarters in Bedford since inception, SDC have been incredible supporters of the Blues with the relationship further growing in recent years through sponsorship, various buildings projects and generous support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Just this off-season, SDC have installed a new classroom for Blues Foundation, a new hospitality suite on the halfway line and contracted additional works to the Eagle Stand.
To coincide with this announcement, we are incredibly proud that Service Express, who acquired long-standing partners Blue Chip last year, continue to see the value of supporting Bedford’s premier sporting club and will therefore continue as a shirt sponsor with a position also on the front of the jersey.
Another long-standing partnership stretching back over a decade, the now American owned business were main shirt sponsors last season and we thank them for continuing their support going forward.
Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred said: “We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of so many fantastic local businesses, in their 50th year it feels pretty special to have SDC on board as the club’s main sponsor.
“There is a truly unique history with SDC Builders and we are extremely grateful to both Francis Shiner (SDC Chairman) and Adam Knaggs (SDC Managing Director) for their commitment to the club.
“We have a great relationship at all levels with the construction company; the timing and synergy of this partnership is perfect as we approach an exciting new season.
“I’d also like to thank Service Express for both their ongoing support and the previous headline sponsorship. They continue to be an extension of the Blues Family, and I’d like to thank Chris Smith and Andy King for their continuing backing of the club, as well as Ron Alvesteffer (Service Express President & CEO) for buying into our community values and culture.”
