Posted: 30th September 2022

Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues prepare for an historic first ever meeting with Caldy tomorrow, while hosting traditional Ladies Day festivities at Goldington Road (KO 3pm).

Multiple online ticket offers will remain in place until kick-off; check out all the details here and secure your spot at Goldington Road.

The two sides have an accumulative 234-year history but have never faced each other throughout that time, and both will head into the clash at Goldington Road full of confidence after strong starts to the campaign.

Bedford are searching for a third successive Championship victory for the first time since 2018, while Caldy gave their travelling support plenty to cheer about down in the capital last time out on the road with a nail-biting victory over Richmond

It’s all set to be a cracking first encounter as Goldington Road turns pink to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

There are three changes to the Bedford side which secured a first victory down at Cornish Pirates since October 2018, with two alterations in the forwards pack and the other in the backs division.

After some impressive cameo appearances off the bench in recent weeks, Jake Garside is this time afforded the starting scrum half jersey. Michael Le Bourgeois deputises as captain this weekend.

Huw Taylor comes into the second row on loan from Dragons RFC to aid with injuries in the back five, while Charles Rylands is back in the Starting XV in place of Geordie Irvine.

Having been named in the Starting XV, Jacob Fields is set to make his 100th appearance for the club on Saturday.

Among the replacements, Jordan Onojaife makes a welcome return. However, Osman Dimen, Luke Frost, Alex Woolford, Jamie Elliott and Matt Worley all remain on the treatment table.

Bedford Blues would like to thank Dragons RFC for their support ahead of this fixture.
