Mike Rayer’s side returned to winning ways last weekend with a full show of grit and determination to see of Hartpury University 28-21 at Goldington Road.
With the Championship Cup getting underway next week, and another quest for a first trophy since 2005 begins, the squad will be looking to head into the first pool phase of fixtures off the back of back-to-back victories.
Steve Hill’s Richmond have made a difficult start to the season so they’ll be desperate to get a statement result to kickstart their campaign, particularly in-front of their home support. They have won just once this season to sit 11th, but that did come last time out at the RAG against Hartpury.
We’ve Met Before
An extremely historic fixture, Bedford Blues will be looking to level the series when they head to the Richmond Athletic Ground on Saturday, after surrendering their previous narrow advantage following two defeats last season.
Richmond currently lead the series 37-36, alongside one draw, from 74 previous meetings since a first contest on Halloween 1931. Neither side has particularly ever held the historic ascendency over the other, with both clubs trading victories through the decades.
In recent times, the standout moments have been Richmond’s Premiership record winning margin in 1999 and Pat Tapley’s triumphant hat-trick back in October 2016.
