Big Game Preview
After two disappointing visits to the capital in successive weekends, Mike Rayer’s side will be determined to return to winning ways and kickstart their Cup campaign, searching for a first victory over Coventry since pre-pandemic.
Goldington Road has been a fortress thus far – securing three bonus point victories – but will be aware of the challenge posed by Alex Rae’s men.
Bedford have met Coventry on 183 occasions in nearly 130’ years’ worth of history. The most notable previous cup encounter between the pair came in the 1975 RFU Club Competition Semi-Final, a 13-6 victory at GR, on the way to Bedford lifting the trophy at Twickenham.
Food, Drink and Entertainment
Head to the ground early and sample everything we have to offer! Why not grab a programme and visit one of our seven public bars; our choice would be upstairs in The Eagle Bar, where you can also enjoy a pint of this week’s guest ale, Marston’s Pedigree, along with home favourite Eagle IPA.
The mini fan village remains ever popular with accompanying Cabin Bar, Coffee & Cake Horsebox and The Burger & Sausage Hut. Additional catering outlets are available next to the entrance and Taylor’s Kitchen from the Scrum Hall serving hatch.
Swipestation is again in operation as the quickest way to get a pint, housed as always in the Scrum Bar. If you are unfamiliar with the system which launched last season, more info is available here.
Post-match, much-acclaimed local singer-songwriter Joe Bygraves returns to The CMC Marquee to play you into the evening! Whilst on the announcer’s mic, we have a guest appearance from the talented Dave Rogers as Sam Roberts is dual-registered on Premiership duty.
Remembrance Day
On matchday, Bedford Blues will again pay tribute to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, we will remember them.
Following the bugler playing The Last Post, a minute’s silence will be held immediately before kick-off and the club’s flag will fly at half-mast. Poppies will be available to purchase around the ground.
Blues Foundation Activation
Friday night’s Community Guard of Honour, sponsored by Bellway Homes, will be Bedford Junior Blues U12s. Make sure to give them a cheer as they step out onto the pitch to form the pre-match tunnel.
To support the Foundation further, why not donate your Eco Cup in the charity bin outside the marquee with proceeds shared with the Royal British Legion this week.
