MATCH FOCUS | Cup hopes on the line at Doncaster
Bedford Blues will be looking to keep their Championship Cup hopes alive when they travel to Doncaster Knights in search of a first victory at Castle Park in over a decade on Saturday (KO 14:30).

Trailing Doncaster by six points after the two opening rounds of Championship Cup action, Blues cannot afford to fall any further behind in pursuit of top spot in Group B and will be searching for nothing other than victory on Saturday.
A morale boosting victory over old rivals, Coventry for the first time since pre-pandemic means there is confidence running through Mike Rayer’s side, but they will be well aware of the stern test that awaits them in South Yorkshire at a venue which hasn’t given them much luck recently.
Steve Boden’s Doncaster Knights have maximum points from their opening two group fixtures and have rotated the squad to beneficial effect throughout the tournament. They’ve been solid at Castle Park this season and will look to their home crowd to again get them over the line.
We’ve Met Before
A relatively new fixture, yet not without its drama already; Bedford and Doncaster have met on 36 previous occasions in competitive action. The Knights currently hold the superior head-to-head record with 19 victories to the Blues’ 15, while there have also been two draws.
Bedford won the first meeting between the sides in September 2005 – Mike Rayer’s first home match as DoR of the Club – as Donny arrived in National One following a surge up the rugby pyramid.
One of the toughest places to go in the Championship, Bedford will be in search of a first victory at Castle Park since November 2012, when Brendan Burke converted a late Josh Bassett try to secure a 22-21 victory.
