Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues turn their attentions back to Championship league action when entertaining Nottingham at Goldington Road this Saturday (KO 3pm).

In the club’s annual Festive fixture, and final home game before Christmas, another vociferous home support is expected to pack through the turnstiles following a magnificent 3,300 crowd last time out against Coventry in cup competition.

As Blues look to maintain their recent inspired home form following four successive victories at Goldington Road, Rayer makes four changes to the side which completed the first phase of Championship Cup action against Doncaster Knights two weekends ago.

That sees two changes in the forwards pack and another two in the backs division, including an immediate return on the right wing for Matt Worley after his international exploits with Hong Kong over the past few weeks in the second repechage tournament for a spot at the Rugby World Cup.

George Hendy is the other player to come into the backs line-up at full-back, with Michael Le Bourgeois reverting back to the more familiar role of inside centre.

The final changes come in the back row as Karl Wilkins prepares for his first minutes in a Blues jersey this season, while his Northampton Saints teammate Kayde Sylvester will join him in the flanker positions.

Among the replacements, Louis Grimoldby makes a welcome return to the matchday squad having successfully completed his return to play concussion protocols, while Blues welcome Callum Burns into the #BluesFamily for a potential debut off the bench.

The duo of Jacob Fields and Alex Woolford are the injury absentees this weekend.
