Big Game Preview
After a fantastic derby day result on Boxing Day, Mike Rayer’s side will be looking to start the New Year on the right footing, while exacting a little bit of revenge for the defeat to Scottish in the opening round of the cup back in November.
Blues are winless on their travels to the capital this season, with this their fourth and final visit to London. A victory would also see Rayer’s side retain their spot inside the Championship’s Top Four.
Bryan Redpath’s London Scottish are starting to get into the point of no return with sides including Caldy and Richmond beginning to pull away at the foot of the table. Expect a number of Harlequins players to be on display as they look to drag themselves away from danger.
We’ve Met Before
An extremely historic fixture, with more than 90 years of drama and excitement, Bedford Blues and London Scottish will meet for the third time this season, and 83rd overall on Saturday.
They have always been competitive games, with neither side ever really holding too much ascendency in the fixture since a first meeting in March 1935.
However, Blues have picked up some important results recently and currently lead 40 wins to Scottish’s 39, while there have been a further three draws. Most notably, Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer celebrated his 500th game in charge of Bedford against Scottish back in April with a 62-21 away victory.
