TEAM NEWS | Three changes for Caldy trip

Posted: 27th January 2023

Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues look to maintain their recent run of inspired form when they make a historic first ever trip to Caldy tomorrow afternoon (KO 2pm).

A completely new fixture this season, with very little prior connection shared between the two clubs, they contested an 81-point thriller at Goldington Road earlier in the season and both come into the game on the back of three successive victories.

As they both put their winning runs on the line, Rayer makes three changes to the side which secured an astounding victory over Cornish Pirates last weekend.

George Hendy misses out having sustained an injury during the first half of that contest at Goldington Road, as does Tom Litchfield who has returned to Northampton Saints, meaning Seàn French and Jamie Elliott return to the Starting XV.

Hendy’s withdrawal sees Matt Worley shift to full-back, with French installed on the right wing.

Kieran Curran is handed a first start in Blues colours in what is an otherwise unchanged forwards pack. There are further positional alterations which sees Luke Frost chosen in the second row for tomorrow’s game.

The quartet of Jacob Fields, Osman Dimen, Jordan Onojaife and Alex Woolford remain unavailable for selection.

Bedford Blues Starting XV:

15. Matt Worley, 14. Seàn French, 13. Jamie Elliott, 12. Michael Le Bourgeois, 11. Dean Adamson, 10. Will Maisey, 9. Alex Day (C); 1. Joey Conway, 2. Jack Hughes, 3. Corrie Barrett, 4. Robin Williams, 5. Luke Frost, 6. Kieran Curran, 7. Jac Arthur, 8. Tui Uru
