MATCH FOCUS | Friday Night Lights & Real Ale Festival

Posted: 14th March 2023

It’s time for the return of our annual Rugby and Ale matchday as Blues look to maintain their unbeaten home record when locking horns with Richmond under the Friday Night Lights (KO 7:45pm).

Save £4 and buy tickets online here.

Big Game Preview

Mike Rayer’s side will be looking to maintain momentum and make it three wins on the spin after successes against Doncaster Knights and Hartpury University in recent weeks.

Blues have consolidated their fourth placed position with those victories, but will be more than aware of the challenge that awaits them against a Richmond side who have had Bedford’s number in recent times, including winning the last three meetings.

Those results for Steve Hill’s side have also seen them change the tide in the overall record; with Richmond having won 38 times, Bedford 36 and one draw. Get behind the team in the 76th meeting as we look to halve the gap. Buy tickets now.

Real Ale Festival – The CMC Marquee

Friday’s highly anticipated clash also plays host to our annual Real Ale Festival with a full Starting XV of guest beers on offer alongside local favourite, Eagle IPA.

The wide selection includes; Brakspear Gravity (3.4%), Courage Directors (4.8%), Wainwright- Golden Beer (4.1%), Marston’s Old Empire (5.7%), Ringwood Boon Doggle (4.2%), Hobgoblin Ruby (4.5%), Banks’s Mild (3.5%), Marston’s Pedigree (4.5%), Jennings Cumberland (4%), St Austell Tribute (4.2%), Adnams Ghost Ship (4.5%), Black Sheep Best Bitter (3.8%), Brains Rev James Original (4.5%), Fullers London Pride (4.1%), Timothy Taylor’s Landlord (4.3%).

Food, Drink and Entertainment

Gates open from 5pm so head to the ground early and sample what’s on offer! Grab a programme before heading across to the marquee to sample an ale or wander up to The Eagle Bar for a drink in quieter surroundings.

For the even thirstier fan looking for a quick pint, try either the cabin outlets or Scrum Bar, with Swipestation again in action this weekend (reminder of details can be found here).

The mini fan village remains ever popular with accompanying Dunster House Bar, Coffee & Cake Horsebox and The Burger & Sausage Hut. Additional catering outlets are available next to the entrance and Taylor’s Kitchen from the Scrum Hall serving hatch.

Then settle down in your favourite spot for the game under the tutelage of our favourite man on the mic, Sam Roberts. After the final whistle, Ellie Antonini returns by popular demand and performs in the CMC Marquee for the first time this season to kickstart your weekend’s entertainment.

Blues Foundation Activation

This weekend’s Guard of Honour, sponsored by Bellway Homes, will be Kempston Boys Brigade. Make sure to give them a cheer as they step out onto the pitch to form the pre-match tunnel.
