Championship Clubs Podcast Team of the Season 2022/23

Three Bedford Blues players have been included as the Championship Clubs Podcast, in collaboration with Championship Rugby on Twitter, name their Team of the Season for the recent 2022/23 campaign.

Tui Uru and Seàn French are named in the Starting XV, while the league’s top points scorer, Will Maisey is named among the replacements with 23 players recognised for their contributions throughout the campaign.

It completes a double inclusion for French – joint top try scorer for the campaign – who was also selected in The Rugby Paper Dream Team last week.

For Uru, it is a perfect way to sign off his time at Goldington Road ahead of his move to French outfit, Chambery ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

No Blues player received more Team of the Week inclusions than Uru’s four throughout the season – Blues received 42 as a team which was the fourth highest in the Championship.

Maisey, meanwhile, had a spectacular campaign and led the standings right the way from the start of the season to see off all competitors to take the title of leading marksman and ending the season with just under a 90% kicking accuracy.

There are also four former Blues named in the team with Reuben Bird-Tulloch, Will Chudley, Joe Wrafter and Jordan Burns also included.

It continues Bedford’s long-established connection to this selected team with Joe Atkinson and Rich Lane chosen in the inaugural team during the truncated 2021 season alongside Maisey and Dean Adamson 12 months ago.
