Jamie Jack arrives at Goldington Road
Bedford Blues are delighted to announce the arrival of loosehead prop, Jamie Jack from Edinburgh ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 Championship campaign.
The 26-year-old – who boasts a vast wealth of Championship experience ahead of his move to Goldington Road – is the third confirmed member of the front row and will battle it out with Joey Conway for the starting jersey next season.
Speaking about bolstering his options in the scrum, Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer said: “We are delighted to have someone of Jamie's calibre and experience join us for next season. Competition for places is key for us in trying to achieve more consistency moving forwards."
Jack will be a familiar face to Blues supporters having faced the club on six previous occasions – spending time previously in his career at Nottingham, Ampthill and more recently, Coventry.
A product of the Leicester Tigers Academy, Jack received his first break into senior rugby with Nottingham where he made close to 50 appearances for the Lady Bay outfit prior to the COVID-19 curtailment of Championship rugby.
He moved to Ampthill when the second tier was able to return and really honed his craft with the Mob, attracting the attention of clubs in the higher echelons of the game before settling on United Rugby Championship side, Edinburgh as his next destination in the Summer of 2022.
Featuring on a handful of occasions, Jack also spent time on loan at Coventry – featuring against Blues in the Championship Cup back in February – and Premiership outfit London Irish, meaning he benefitted from three full-time environments across the course of the campaign.
He will be looking to bring the experience he’s built up so far to Goldington Road, and when speaking of the move said: “I'm very excited to be joining the club and counting down the days now until joining up with the squad for pre-season. The Championship is a league I know well, enjoy playing in it, and looking forward to getting stuck back in.
"My game time was limited last year just due to the calibre of players Edinburgh have in the position. When I found out Bedford were interested, I spoke to a few current and ex players and I never heard a bad word about the environment and culture. You can't turn that sort of opportunity down and hope to do the supporters proud in the jersey."
