Blues Family obituary notices

Posted: 26th June 2023

It is with deep regret that the club must share the sad news of the recent passing of two ardent Bedford Blues supporters.

Former club photographer Nigel Rudgard passed away following a short illness at the age of 74. Nigel supported the club for nearly two decades before hanging up his camera and retiring during the pandemic.

Nigel was at the front and centre of the action for Blues’ last trophy success at Twickenham in 2005, another visit to HQ a year later and many memorable moments back home at Goldington Road including play-off appearances and 100+ point thrillers.

Alongside his wife Elaine, who stewarded for many years, the duo were familiar faces for many of our supporters on matchday and were highly regarded by all at the club.

His funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday 7th July at Crownhill Crematorium, Oak Chapel.

Devoted longstanding supporter Kristina French passed away at the age of 78.

Kristina moved to Bedford in 1963 and immediately became a staunch supporter of Bedford Blues. A regular voice on the touchline and member of the Followers Association, Kristina followed the club home and away for six decades.

Her funeral service will be held at 12:15pm on Monday 3rd July at All Saints Church in Queens Park.

The thoughts of everyone associated with Bedford Blues are with the family and friends of Nigel and Kristina. Our club flag will be flown at half-mast this week in both their memories.
