Jac Arthur continues stay at Goldington Road

Posted: 12th June 2023

Concluding another exciting day of player announcements is news of further depth in the back row positions for the upcoming Championship campaign as Jac Arthur extends his time at Bedford Blues into a second season.

The 25-year-old – kindly sponsored by Ismail & Ann-Marie Anilmis – will be looking to hit the ground running in 2023/24 after having what was looking like a stunning debut campaign cut short by injury problems at the back end of the season.

Before those injury concerns, Arthur was able to make 16 appearances at Goldington Road, scoring two tries including a crucial one on Boxing Day against his former side, Ampthill.

On prolonging his stay into the new season, Arthur commented: “Really enjoyed last year, it was nice to move into a new environment and it's been an environment which I've really enjoyed. There's nowhere else I'd rather be to be honest.

"I thought I was playing pretty well at the start but then unfortuately the head injuries came in. I want a fresh start, missed it when I was injured, and really looking forward to getting stuck back in.

"It was a really good season last year from a team perspective. There were times we felt we probably came up short but to finish where we did was good. How we keep that momentum going is to be more consistent and challenge those top teams a bit more by playing the way we play."

Versatile enough to play across all three back row positions, which he did to good effect last season, Arthur has been one of the most consistent operators across his positions within the Championship for the past number of seasons.

Prior to his time down the B530 at Ampthill, Arthur came through the production line at the notable set up of Cardiff Metropolitan University and will look to push on his development even further next season.

Discussing further depth within the forwards pack, Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer said: “Jac’s versatility is very important to us. His consistency of performance was outstanding last year and there’s still more to come from him, particularly now he’s put injury concerns behind him.”

After three re-signings in the past two days, we’ll take a short break before returning with a bang at the end of the week. In the meantime, consider purchasing a season ticket with Early Bird prices remaining for the next few weeks. Click here to get yours NOW!
