Onojaife heads into fifth season

Further experience and continuity within the second row has been confirmed with the news that Jordan Onojaife has extended his stay at Bedford Blues into the 2023/24 campaign.
The 27-year-old – kindly sponsored by Bedford Battery – is one of the club’s longest serving current players and will be hoping to rediscover his best form in 2023/24 following a tough campaign limited to just 11 appearances.
Our illustrious century club remains on the horizon for Onojaife who possesses statistics of 83 appearances, scoring five tries since arrival at Goldington Road.
Speaking regards a second re-signing in the second row positions, Forwards Coach Sean McCarthy said: “Jordan obviously missed out on a chunk of last season, but I thought he managed that time really well. It’s never easy when you can’t pull on the shirt with your teammates on a Saturday but his attitude to help the team week in, week out was immense.
“He’s been around the club a long time now and he really gives us that physical edge. He’s an abrasive ball carrier and has the ability to give us that go forward in tight spaces. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more of him next year.”
Onojaife originally joined Bedford on loan from Northampton Saints for the later stages of 2017 before returning full-time ahead of the 2019/20 campaign following a stint with Ealing Trailfinders.
One of two Blues players named in the Championship Dream Team for 2019/20, Onojaife is raring to start afresh and hit the ground running now confirmed as part of the #BluesFamily next season.
Confirming the news, he said: “Everyone who knows me will understand how much I love this club and how much I've enjoyed playing here. I'm looking forward to hopefully playing a bit more than last season and showing everyone what I can do.
"I see it as a fresh start for myself. Enjoyed those couple of games at the end of last season and looking forward to getting back at it in pre-season and working towards the 100 club.
"The core group of this squad has been together for three seasons now so hopefully that means we'll be able to learn from some mistakes and build towards greater consistency next year."
