SDC continue as main sponsors

Posted: 25th July 2023

Bedford Blues are delighted to announce that Bedford based construction company, SDC will remain as main sponsors for the 2023/24 campaign after renewing their generous backing of the club.

Last year, as part of their 50th year of business, SDC became main sponsors for the very first time, featuring as front of shirt sponsors on all men’s playing jerseys, among many other activations. In a partnership that is far stronger than just financial support, Bedford Blues are grateful for the ongoing level of support.

The club recently announced that all men’s, women’s and junior’s playing jerseys will share the same design for the very first time in the upcoming campaign. As part of this new agreement, SDC’s traditional logo will adorn all three jerseys; retaining its place in pride of position at the front centre of the men’s, alongside sleeve positions on the remaining two.

Established in 1972, SDC are one of the club’s most long-standing sponsors having begun their support of Bedford Blues 43 years ago under co-founders Bob Reynolds and Dave Ledsom (who later became Bedford Blues’ Chairman) to give something back to the town and its community.

Retaining headquarters in Bedford since inception, SDC have been incredible supporters of the Blues over that time with the relationship further growing in recent years through sponsorship, various building projects on site at Goldington Road and generous support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the past 12 months, SDC have been instrumental in installing a new ‘Hub’ for Blues Foundation, a new hospitality suite on the halfway line and refurbishments of the Eagle Bar, Larry Webb Room and Scrum Bar at Goldington Road.

Bedford Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred said: “We are absolutely delighted to keep SDC on the front of this season’s men’s shirt and have them as main sponsors of the club.

“The partnership stretches back over four decades, and the working relationship has gone from strength to strength over recent years. We are extremely grateful to the whole team at SDC and look forward to sharing a very exciting season with them behind us.”

SDC Managing Director, Adam Knaggs added: “We are extremely pleased to continue our long-standing relationship and support of Bedford Blues.  We are proud to support both the work of the Club and Foundation that engages with the local community. We’re looking forward to a successful season as part of the Blues Family.”
