Blues extend CMBC drinks partnership

Posted: 22nd August 2023

Bedford Blues are delighted to announce a new three-year deal with Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (CMBC) ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 Championship campaign at Goldington Road.

The support from CMBC over the last four years, having acquired the contract from Marston’s after the Joint Venture with Carlsberg in 2020, as the club’s official composite drinks’ supplier has been fantastic and improved year-on-year.

After a thorough tender process and sponsorship negotiation, both parties were pleased to extend the partnership with many exciting developments planned across the term.

As part of the new arrangement, CMBC have released certain sponsorship assets to allow the club to maximise a number of commercial opportunities, and even allowed a third-party pouring option over the bars, whilst remaining main partners of the Blues and attending all matches.

On the taps and in the fridges, the Blues will still boast a fantastic array of drinks including keeping regular favourite Eagle IPA on cask and introducing San Miguel in replacement for Estrella Damm. Elsewhere, The Burrow of the Blues, will feature a star-studded line-up including Birrificio Angelo Poretti and Brooklyn Pilsner with all of the normal favourites.

Bedford Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred commented: “We are very grateful and appreciative for the support of CMBC, who throughout this process have shown their commitment to the club and their flexibility to work with us.

“I must personally add thanks to David Lloyd and Josh Hussey who continue to be fantastic to deal with and for getting this deal over the line. The premium selection of drinks, brilliant service level and genuine support for the club are some of the reasons why we were pleased to honour that loyalty and extend.

“The adaptions to the agreement also enable us to unlock certain other potential opportunities that are very exciting, with more announcements to follow.”

David Lloyd, Customer Development Manager for CMBC, added: “I’m proud to continue our partnership and would like to thank Gareth, Jo Taylor and the Club Directors for their support during the tender process, with our shared commitment to excellent rugby and hospitality, it was a natural choice to want to continue our partnership with the Blues.

“We recognise the financial challenges that Championship Rugby is facing, and this agreement allows the club to welcome more Sponsors to the Blues Family, whilst CMBC brands are predominant around the bars. We know Blues Supporters are passionate about their beer as well as their rugby and we look forward to three more seasons as part of the family.”
