Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues look to begin their Premiership Rugby Cup exploits on a strong footing when they head to the North West to face Sale Sharks tomorrow (KO 5:30pm).
Tickets still available for Bedford’s first ever trip to AJ Bell Stadium, join us on the road by securing your spot here.
A fixture with more history than perhaps expected, Bedford and Sale first faced each other in 1932 and will go head-to-head for the 49th time on Saturday evening. This represents a first meeting for 23 years and is sure to be another cracker.
Heading into the game, Rayer has a few injury and illness concerns to contend with and makes five changes in comparison to the Starting XV that concluded pre-season in victory over Northampton Saints last time out.
Four players will make their competitive debut for Bedford during the game with summer arrival Joe Howard chosen in the Number 8 jersey, and the trio of Jamie Jack, Bryan O’Connor and Cameron King ready to make an impact from the bench.
After missing out in pre-season, Michael Le Bourgeois is ready to return and slots straight in at inside centre.
Bedford Blues Starting XV:
15. Matt Worley, 14. Pat Tapley, 13. Ethan Grayson, 12. Michael Le Bourgeois, 11. Dean Adamson, 10. Will Maisey, 9. Alex Day (C); 1. Joey Conway, 2. James Fish, 3. Oisin Heffernan, 4. Robin Williams, 5. Alex Woolford, 6. Luke Frost, 7. Jac Arthur, 8. Joe Howard
