Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues prepare to kickstart their 2023/24 Championship campaign on home soil as they take on early title favourites, Ealing Trailfinders at Goldington Road (KO 3pm).

130 years of history is on the line this Saturday with Bedford and Ealing both deadlocked for victories since a first meeting way back in 1891, and homing in to more recent meetings shows an average of close to 60 points with entertainment a guarantee.
Without question one of the toughest tests of the league calendar, Rayer has elected to make four changes in comparison to the Starting XV two weeks ago in victory over Leicester Tigers to conclude the Premiership Rugby Cup pool stages.
That’s an equal split of two changes to the backs division and two in the forwards pack.
The headline news sees the return of captain Alex Day having been sidelined for the past month with the foot injury sustained a mere few minutes into the campaign against Sale Sharks.
Jordan Venter completes the backs alterations, while within the forwards there are inclusions for Joey Conway at loosehead, and Luke Frost at blindside flanker.
