MATCH FOCUS | It’s all going on against Hartpury this Saturday

Posted: 7th November 2023

It’s time for the return of our annual Real Ale Festival as Blues look to make it back-to-back league victories when locking horns with Hartpury this Saturday on Armistice Day in our Armed Forces and Emergency Services fixture (KO 3pm).

FREE ENTRY for all Armed Forces & Emergency Services Workers with valid ID; discounted tickets available online for everyone else, save £4 by clicking here.

Big Game Preview

A fixture still in its infancy in terms of history with a first meeting as recent as 2017, Blues will be looking to pick up where they left off after a nail-biting win over Cornish Pirates in Penzance two weeks ago.

Hartpury are in a false position within the table having kickstarted the campaign with two of the toughest tests, Doncaster Knights and Ealing Trailfinders. After going toe to toe against both full-time professional outfits, expect another strong showing from the visitors on Saturday.

Real Ale Festival – The CMC Marquee

Saturday’s highly anticipated clash also plays host to our annual Real Ale Festival with a full Starting XV of guest beers on offer inside The CMC Marquee throughout the day from gates opening at noon.

The selection features; Eagle (3.6%), Courage Directors (4.8%), Wainwright Gold (4.1%), Marston’s Old Empire (5.7%), Ringwood Boon Doggle (4.2%), Hobgoblin Ruby (4.5%), Marston’s Pedigree (4.5%), Ringwood Razorback (3.8%), St Austell Proper Job (4.5%), Adnams Ghost Ship (4.5%), Adam Henson’s Rare Breed Pale Ale (3.8%), JW. Lees Manchester Pale Ale (3.7%), Ossett Brewery Yorkshire Blonde (3.9%): Timothy Taylor’s Landlord (4.3%) and Brewpoint’s Anchorman (4.1%).

Remembrance Day

This matchday, Bedford Blues will be joined by Biggleswade Sea Cadet Marching Band to pay tribute to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, we will remember them.

A minute’s silence will be held immediately before kick-off and the club’s flag will fly at half-mast. Poppies will be available to purchase around the ground, raising money for the Royal British Legion.

PLEASE NOTE: To allow all club staff to observe an impeccable minute’s silence, the turnstiles will close for a short period. Please enter the ground in plenty of time to avoid any delay at KO.

Food, Drink and Entertainment

Head to the ground early to sample everything we have to offer! Once through the gates why not grab a programme and visit one of our six public bars; away from the Real Ale Fest our choice would be the newly refurbished Rebel Bar or for a speedy pint try Swipestation from The Scrum Bar.

Away from the hallowed turf, live sport will be shown pre-game (Wolves v Tottenham – 12:30pm) and afterwards (Bournemouth v Newcastle – 5:30pm).

The mini fan village remains ever popular with the usual offering of No.7 Coffee House Mobile Truck and The Cocktail Box, alongside the Dunster House Bar and Burger & Sausage Hut.

There are two other food outlets available Saturday; the refurbed catering unit by the main gates and Taylor’s Kitchen at the Scrum Hall serving hatch.

After the match, stick around with us in the CMC Marquee for live music from the highly acclaimed and returning, Ellie Antonini.

PLEASE NOTE: The Scrum Bar will close at 6:15pm for a private function.

Blues Foundation Activation

This weekend’s Guard of Honour, sponsored by Bellway Homes, will be composed from members of our Junior Blues set-up, as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations.

Saturday represents 50 years to the day since the official formation of our minis and juniors. Make sure to give them a cheer as they step out onto the pitch to form the pre-match tunnel.
