George Cullen Memorial Service Details
![]()
Everyone at Bedford Blues was saddened to learn of the recent passing of former player, George Cullen.
A former English and PE teacher, and Housemaster at Bedford Modern School for 35 years (1954-89); Cullen made 12 appearances, adding one try for Bedford Blues in the 1957-58 campaign during the early part of the teaching life.
Many former OBMs went on to play for the Bedford Blues first-team having been coached by George at school, including the legendary Mark Howe, who still remains our second highest appearance maker of all time.
He coached the BMS 1st XV for 21 of those years, holding an outstanding record of 118 wins in the 184 matches played during that timeframe.
A Memorial Service to celebrate George's life will be held at Goldington Road on Saturday 17th February from 3pm. Everyone is welcome, but please email jennyccullen@yahoo.co.uk if you are intending to attend.
The thoughts of everyone associated with the Club are with the family and friends of George at this time.
