Bedford Blues will be looking to return to winning ways when they travel to Doncaster Knights in search of a first victory at Castle Park in over a decade on Saturday (KO 14:30).

It’s 4th v 5th on Saturday with both sides looking for a first success of 2024 after respective defeats to start the calendar year.

After two weeks off, Blues will be looking to dust off the cobwebs aiming to make it three successive league victories on the road since March 2022. Stil one of the top points scorers in the Championship,

Doncaster don’t lose that often on home soil and will be determined to put in a performance worthy of a response after suffering defeat last time out to Ampthill. Blues will try and go back-to-back for Bedfordshire, but will be more than aware of the challenge that lies in wait.

We’ve Met Before

Castle Park hasn’t been the happiest of hunting grounds for Mike Rayer and his troops with Bedford Blues going in search of their first away victory in South Yorkshire for more than a decade.

Still a relatively new fixture with less than 20 years’ worth of history; Doncaster were actually the first visitors to Goldington Road in the Mike Rayer era. Saturday’s game will be the 40th meeting between the pair and it’s Doncaster who currently lead the standings – 20 victories to Bedford’s 16, with three draws.

The last time Blues triumphed at Castle Park came back in November 2012 – when a late Brendan Burke conversion to a Josh Bassett score secured a 22-21 success.
