MATCH FOCUS | Blues Women return home this Sunday
Bedford Blues Women can put one hand on the NC2 Midlands (South) Division title when they entertain familiar foes St Neots Ladies at Goldington Road on Sunday (Gates Open 12pm; Kick Off 2pm).

The side Blues Women have faced the most in competitive action since their inception three years ago, Eddie Rennell and Peter Frost’s side will be looking to complete what St Neots did to them last season – win every meeting between the two sides.
A comprehensive cup win at Goldington Road (40-0) was followed by a closer encounter in Cambridgeshire (27-10). With the Bedford juggernaut in full motion, it’s going to take something pretty special to stop them, particularly when they’re backed by a vocal support from the sidelines.
St Neots are a side who know what it takes to win at Goldington Road having done so last season. It’s set to be an intriguing contest on Sunday.
What follows this league clash?
You’d forgive the squad if they get the job done on Sunday and then take one eye off the league to focus on cup competition. Because that huge Round of 16 clash vs Gloucestershire based Hucclecote Ladies is next on the horizon (Sun 4 Feb).
Just three games from Twickenham and you wouldn’t blame anyone for daring to dream.
After that cup clash, we hope to see even more knockout rugby with future dates to bear in mind being Quarter Finals (Sun 3 Mar), Semi Finals (Sun 24 Mar) and the Showpiece Final (Sun 12 May).
There’s also the small matter of three further league games to play and there will be no let up from the coaches in terms of trying to replicate Peterborough last season and go in search of immortality.
Opposition Analysis
The statistics are harshly against St Neots because they should get more credit for at least turning up to every game than perhaps the table dictates.
It’s a transitional season for the side having lost some key players over the Summer and they are winless this season, baring two walkovers they have received. They’ve faced Buckingham twice when their 1s haven’t had a game, facing an altogether tougher test, as well as defeats to Bedford, Milton Keynes and Harpenden.
They remain in the RFU Women’s Junior Plate competition, and we wish them luck in their quest for silverware.
