Sue Ryder becomes Ladies Day designated Charity
Bedford Blues are proud to be teaming up with Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger at the upcoming Ladies Day celebrations against Caldy on Saturday 23rd March, as our chosen charity partner for the special day.
Over the past five years, our loyal #BluesFamily have raised more than £50,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through generous donations, the ever-exciting post-match shirt auction, raffles and much more. Before that, Blues had donated to Breast Cancer Care UK and Cancer Research.
In March, we anticipate the total Ladies Day fundraising efforts to surpass £100,000.
The meeting with Caldy will be the 15th edition of Ladies Day at Goldington Road having first taken place in October 2008 against Sedgley Park, with the ground turning into an odyssey of pink as an annual event.
Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice are expert care providers for life-limiting conditions, offering fantastic support for local communities from their Bedfordshire base.
With the charity aiming to transform the experience of everyone facing dying or grief in the UK, Sue Ryder has also opened several Grief Kind Spaces in Bedfordshire over the past year. Visit sueryder.org/griefkindspaces for more information.
As well as the rugby and fundraising, there will be lots of events planned on the day to enjoy, look out for future details in the coming weeks on what to expect, with 5th Avenue rejoining, free wine for the girls, limited edition shirts and much more.

We were one of the first rugby clubs to run such an event 15 years ago and it has gone from strength to strength since.
“I must thank Macmillan Cancer Support, their tremendous volunteers and staff for the past five years working together. To have raised over £50,000 for the charity is extremely humbling, thank you to our loyal #BluesFamily for their generosity.
“It is important to us at Bedford Blues to support local causes, therefore we felt the time was right to partner with the team at Sue Ryder. It’s always a special occasion on Ladies Day and we expect no different this year.”
