MATCH FOCUS | Blues Women on home soil for season finale

Posted: 13th March 2024

Bedford Blues Women will look to sign off their season in style this Saturday as they prepare to lift the NC2 Midlands (South) Division trophy following their final fixture against Stockwood Park at Goldington Road (KO 2pm).

Tickets from just £2; support our Women’s side and join in the title party by clicking here!

Big Game Preview

Blues Women head into the game knowing they have a rare chance of league immortality and just need to overcome Stockwood on home soil to achieve such a momentous feat. The team set themselves the challenge of replicating Peterborough from 12 months ago and they are only 80 minutes away from achieving it.

They will take confidence from recent outings, which included a seven try showing at Cambridge last weekend, and they secured a 22-5 victory in this reverse fixture with a confident display away from home in December.

Stockwood will pose a strong challenge, however, with the Luton based side still having four fixtures to play this season and realistic Top Four ambitions. They will also want to spoil the Goldington Road party by returning to winning ways.

Team News will be announced on Friday morning.

Her Game Too Affiliated Fixture

Saturday’s game will be first affiliated ‘Her Game Too’ fixture since both senior sides agreed a partnership agreement with the charity earlier this month, with the overall aim of making sport something that everyone can enjoy, regardless of gender.

A specially designed selfie board has arrived at Goldington Road, and flags are on there way in time for kick-off! Take a photo on matchday and tag all the associated channels – and by doing so spread the key message that rugby is a game for all!

Stick around after the game – Title Party!

To celebrate another magnificent campaign, Bedford Blues Women will lift the NC2 Midlands (South) Division title following the conclusion of the game, with a presentation on the hallowed turf conducted by Blues Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer.

A huge thank you to loyal sponsors Woburn Country Foods, in particular Andrew and Helen Davies, for supporting this and backing our club again throughout the season.

After the celebrations, join the team around the ground for Six Nations Super Saturday with live coverage of all three games shown around Goldington Road.
