Bedford Blues look to return to winning ways while hunting a first victory in Coventry for over a decade when they travel to Butts Park Arena this Saturday (KO 3pm).

Saturday’s defeat to neighbours, Ampthill has derailed the momentum which Mike Rayer’s side have built in recent weeks, but they’ll be desperate to immediately get back on track this weekend.
Butts Park hasn’t been the happiest of hunting grounds with a winless streak stretching back to 2008, Blues’ longest against any other Championship competitor.
To break the streak, Blues will have to overcome Alex Rae’s high-flyers who have hit a real rich vein of form recently – and are the only realistic competitors to Ealing Trailfinders for the title. They have won their last six outings, scoring 50+ on the past two occasions.
We’ve Met Before
Bedford have only faced Northampton Saints (212) on more occasions than Coventry, with the two old rivals contesting 187 previous encounters since a first meeting in 1894. Coventry hold the better record overall with 113 victories to Bedford’s 62, while there have been 12 draws.
Blues have come out on top in the two most notable meetings, however, securing a 13-6 RFU Club Competition Semi-Final victory at Goldington Road in 1975 on their way to national trophy success, alongside the thrilling 15-try 53-52 success in January 2019.
In the last 18 months, the two sides have met on five occasions, averaging 52.8 points per fixture in that time.
