Record Ladies Day Donation to Sue Ryder
Bedford Blues are delighted to have raised yet another record Ladies Day donation of £16,500 for Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger following the festivities against Caldy last month.
An entertaining affair on the pitch was matched by a cracking afternoon off it, raising money for a very deserved and worthwhile charitable cause, close to a lot of people’s hearts across Bedfordshire.
Our loyal #BluesFamily raised the staggering amount via raffles, auctions and collections at the Club’s 15th Ladies Day event. The majority came from the ever-popular post-match jersey auction with MC Sam Roberts, thank you to everyone who supported.
Sue Ryder volunteers and Bedford supporters managed to make Goldington Road a sea of pink and blue for the day and raise the biggest amount of funds to date!
Blues’ Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred said: “The generosity of the #BluesFamily never ceases to amaze and we’re incredibly humbled to be able to donate a record amount to Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice this year.
“Our community means everything to us at the Blues, so to be able to help ensure that specialist care for those who require it most can continue to be offered right here in Bedfordshire, is extremely fulfilling. Thank you to all those who showed their support.”
Senior Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder St John's Hospice, Nick Burr added: "We are blown away to be receiving such an incredible donation thanks to the support of Bedford Blues and the generosity of their fans. It was such a brilliant event and Sue Ryder staff and volunteers were honoured to join everyone there on the day.
"The money raised will go a long way in helping us to continue to be there when it matters for families going through the most difficult times of their lives."
