Tappers’ Testimonial Match Announced
Bedford Blues are pleased to announce a special Tappers’ Testimonial Match at Goldington Road to conclude the 23/24 season on Sunday 26th May (KO 3pm).
To close Pat Tapley’s celebration year, a Bedfordshire XV will face a Cambridgeshire XV, littered with current and former Blues, and Blood and Sand, players.
Tapley will himself feature in the game, as will many of his current Bedford teammates, as well as local players from clubs such as Bedford Athletic and Shelford, amongst others. Further player announcements will follow in due course.
Ticket prices for the match at Goldington Road are just £12 for adults and kids for a quid! All online adult tickets purchased in advance are discounted by £2, so buy yours today!

Testimonial fixtures have become synonymous with Goldington Road down the years, lastly taking place in 2018 as Paul Tupai brought the curtain down on his career with a special clash between past and present players of Bedford Blues and Northampton Saints.
Other Blues legends to have celebrated their benefit year with a match are Ben Whetstone, Junior Paramore, Sacha Harding, James Pritchard and Mike Howard.
The Club also hosted a Celebration of Bedford Rugby fixture in 2021, to honour outgoing Chairman Geoff Irvine who stood down after more than 20 years’ service.
