Posted: 24th May 2024

Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues prepare to sign off the 2023/24 Championship campaign with a trip to the champions, Ealing Trailfinders this Saturday (KO 3pm).

Tickets still available from our hosts as Blues prepare to say farewell to multiple members of the squad. Click here to join the team in London.

Alternatively, the match has been chosen for live stream coverage. Head over to the England Rugby YouTube channel from 2:50pm on Saturday with full coverage of the game.

A fixture with a lot more history than people might otherwise assume, matches between Bedford and Ealing stretch back more than 130 years with Blues looking to level the series up again this weekend, currently trailing 15-14 with one draw thrown in for good measure.

With Ealing already crowned champions for the second time in three seasons, and Blues safe and secured in fourth spot, both sides will look to put on a show while trying to end the campaign on a strong note.

For the game, Rayer makes four changes to the Starting XV which made it back-to-back victories with success in the capital against London Scottish two weeks ago.

Just one of those changes comes in the forwards pack as Alex Woolford is back from injury to take a spot in the second row, packing down alongside Jordan Onojaife who celebrates his 100th Bedford appearance in his final game before retirement.

In the backs division, there is a complete swap in the centre positions as Jordan Venter and Jamie Elliott are selected this time around. Ewan Baker’s inclusion for his first Championship start at full-back completes the alterations.

Among the replacements, Jacob Fields is also expected to feature before he hangs up his boots this Summer.

Bedford Blues Starting XV:

15. Ewan Baker, 14. Sean French, 13. Jamie Elliott, 12. Jordan Venter, 11. Dean Adamson, 10. Will Maisey, 9. Alex Day (C); 1. Joey Conway, 2. James Fish, 3. Bryan O’Connor, 4. Jordan Onojaife, 5. Alex Woolford, 6. Luke Frost, 7. Joe Howard, 8. Cameron King

Bedford Blues Replacements:

16. Jacob Fields, 17. Jamie Jack, 18. Oisin Heffernan, 19. Robin Williams, 20. Kieran Curran, 21. James Lennon, 22. Louis Grimoldby, 23. Toby Thame
