Jac Arthur remains in Bedford

Bedford Blues are pleased to announce further continuity within the squad for the 2024/25 Championship campaign following the news that back row forward, Jac Arthur will continue at Goldington Road for a third season.
The 26-year-old – kindly sponsored by Document Logistix – will be looking to hit the ground running next season after two campaigns of frustration with injury concerns never really affording him a prolonged run in the team.
He has made 39 appearances, scoring five tries since crossing the Bedfordshire divide from Ampthill.
On prolonging his stay into the new season, Arthur commented: “Every opportunity I get to stick around in Bedford is 100% going to be the decision I make. You want to be somewhere you love and absolutely no other decision to make.
"Personally, it was a mixed season for me I felt. I want to be invovled in every game, I think I'm developing and that's something I want to keep on doing while I'm here.
"We want to improve upon our consistency. There were a few home games that we let slip away at the end where we should have gotten results, and then that would have lifted us up the table. That's the challenge for us next season to continue developing and finding a way to succeed in those close games."
Versatile enough to play across all three back row positions, which he has done to good effect in both seasons, Arthur has been one of the most consistent operators across his positions within the Championship for the past number of seasons.
Prior to his time down the B530 at Ampthill, Arthur came through the production line at the notable set up of Cardiff Metropolitan University and will look to push on his development even further next season.
Discussing further depth within the forwards pack, Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer said: “It’s not just about what Jac brings on the field, it’s off the field as well.
“He gets on with everybody and is a quality operator. Like with everybody, we’ve got to find a point of difference next year that keeps the club moving forwards, that little 1% extra from everyone.
“Jac has had a change of circumstances being a father now and he’s pretty settled in here in Bedford. He was desperate to stay around next season and we need to see that from everybody on the field.”
