2024/25 Championship Fixtures announced

Bedford Blues’ fixtures for the 2024/25 Championship league campaign are out!

Following three Friday Night Lights in pre-season, Mike Rayer’s men return to Saturday afternoon rugby in league action with dates for our first three home outings confirmed as part of today’s announcement.

Blues begin at home for the second season running and will be looking for a first win on opening weekend since 2019 when hosting Caldy on Saturday 21^st September (KO 3pm).

Tough trips to Coventry and Cornish Pirates are broken up by a home clash against Hartpury on Saturday 5^th October (KO 3pm), with former Blue Billy Twelvetrees now part of their coaching staff.

Arguably the greatest moment at Goldington Road last season was the last-minute victory against Doncaster Knights. Joe Ford’s Yorkshiremen will target revenge on Saturday 19^th October (KO 3pm).

The champions, and title favourites again this year, Ealing Trailfinders come to town in early December for our Christmas bash, before the calendar year concludes with festive rugby returning to Goldington Road in a local derby with Cambridge.

Our two nearest rivals are the first visitors of 2025, both in January, as Blues seek retribution after defeats to Ampthill and Coventry last season.

Only one home league fixture is currently scheduled for both March and April, against Cornish Pirates and Nottingham respectively, while May begins against London Scottish on Bank Holiday weekend.

Blues will end their home campaign on the penultimate weekend of the season, by hosting Chinnor for the first time in history, on the weekend of 24^th May for the traditional End of Season Party.    

The season finishes in June with a two-legged play-off fixture, between the side who finishes top of the Championship (if minimum standards criteria are met) and bottom of the Premiership.   

Cup fixtures will take place during the season, in separate three-week blocks through November and February, with these fixture dates and opponents expected to be announced soon.
