MATCH FOCUS | Season opener against Blackheath
Bedford Blues ramp up for the 2024/25 campaign by hosting National One outfit, Blackheath in their first home fixture of the season this Friday (Gates open 5pm; Kick Off 7:45pm).

Big Game Preview
Friday’s game represents a first hit out for Mike Rayer’s squad with all eight summer arrivals in the mix to step out at Goldington Road for the first time since signing.
Under the lights, and hopefully the late summer sun, expect Bedford to try some new moves as preparations for the new season are put into practice.
Lining up for Blackheath, coached by former Blue James Shanahan, is likely to be previous members of this parish, Jordan Burns and Oskar Hirskyj-Douglas, as well as a littering of previous Championship players, having recruited heavily this summer.
Club, as they are affectionately known, have played twice already in pre-season, losing to Newport before responding by defeating Barnes last weekend.
We ask all attending supporters to join us in a minute’s silence prior to the game, as we remember legendary club figure, Gareth Davies who sadly passed away last month.

Head to the ground early from gates opening at 5pm to sample everything we have to offer!
All venues around the ground will be open, excluding the Rebel Bar and Dovecote Park Suite which are closed for this match only. That means there’s still plenty of places to beat the queues and enjoy Bank Holiday weekend with a pint and rugby!
The CMC Marquee will be reserved for a private event pre-game, but after the match action head straight there for live music from regular favourite, Marc James until late.
Blues Foundation Activation
This week’s Guard of Honour, sponsored by Bellway Homes, will be formed of Bedford Junior Blues minis set-up. Make sure to give them a cheer as they step out onto the pitch for the pre-match tunnel.
