Five Summer arrivals are in line for a first run out at Goldington Road after Mike Rayer named an extended 27-man squad for Friday’s pre-season opener against Blackheath (KO 7:45pm).

After seven weeks of hard pre-season training, Blues are set to begin a three-match schedule prior to the Championship getting underway on 21st September.

They face Blackheath for the first time since 2017 when the two sides shared a 59-point thriller.

The first hit out on Bank Holiday Weekend will see chances to put much needed minutes into the legs of the squad and we’re urging everyone to get behind their team for the inaugural time in 2024/25.

Backs trio Louis James, Alfie Garside and Lucas Titherington – as well as forwards Rory Ward and Fred Tuilagi – will feature on the hallowed turf for their club debut with the quintet all chosen in the Starting XV.

As well as the core Blues squad, Rayer will be able to call on Northampton Saints’ Reuben Logan, who spent time at Goldington Road last season. Henry Nanka-Bruce and Sione Vaenuku will make guest appearances from the bench.

Joe Howard (Shoulder) and Shay Kerry (Only just landed from Australia) are the only players unavailable for selection under the Friday Night Lights.
