Big Game Preview – English giants in town!

A first meeting at GR since 2018 as two sides with attacking intent look to put on a show in what is the penultimate runout for both sides before their domestic campaigns.

Familiar foes, following a dual registration agreement for several seasons pre-covid, the two clubs remain close friends. Many supporters will remember loanees such as Jackson Wray, Henry Fraser, Tom Griffiths et al, whilst noting players joining us permanently, such as  Jake Sharp, Luke Baldwin, Nick Fenton-Wells etc, and not forgetting players developed at Bedford before moving on to Sarries; Duncan Taylor, Mouritz Botha, Mark Flanagan to name a few.

Mike Rayer’s men step back out onto the hallowed turf expecting a step up in intensity and challenge, just two weeks out from the Championship season. Two upcoming games against Premiership sides, including next week’s Mobbs Memorial Match v Northampton Saints, will be the perfect preparation for the league calendar.

Fresh from a training camp on the Algarve, Saracens will be fully loaded minus their England stars, as they begin their pre-season schedule ahead of mounting another challenge for the Premiership title.
