After an unfortunate postponement of this original fixture back in September, both early season title contenders will attempt to do battle again this Sunday with important strategic table position on the line.
Blues Women will still have a few scars from their two defeats to Peterborough in 22/23, but have the perfect opportunity to show just how much they have developed in the past 18 months when they take to the field for the third ever meeting between the sides.
A loud and passionate home support could make all the difference on matchday and with ticket sales tracking strong ahead of this Sunday, let’s continue the moment and help the side over the line.
What follows the clash of the titans?
Fixtures come thick and fast through November with another two tough tests coming up.
Next weekend, Sunday 10th November, Eddie Rennell’s side travel to Bletchley before returning home two weeks later to face Welwyn (Sun 24th Nov). Tickets for the Welwyn game will go on sale in the coming days in what completes a Goldington Road double header with the men’s side taking on last year’s Premiership runners-up, Bath the day before.
In December, the side face one game, away at Wymondham on Sunday 15th December – the same day as the men’s side travel to London Scottish.
Team News
Three weeks have elapsed since Rennell’s side took the field at Stamford so you’d hope that timeframe will have afforded the walking wounded time to get themselves back into contention.
Full confirmation of the Matchday 22 will follow from 10am on Friday.
Opposition Analysis
Peterborough Ladies are somewhat of a nemesis to Bedford following the convincing league double two seasons ago. They were promoted at the end of that season as invincibles, something Blues mirrored 12 months later, and had a solid debut NC1 campaign last time out.
They have started the season well to sit top of the league ahead of Sunday’s showdown, defeating Bletchley 79-0 on opening weekend, before scrappy wins over Welwyn and Stamford in more recent times.
Peterborough are the highest scorers in the league so far this season, and also the side with the meanest defensive record.
