Big Game Preview
After a sensational display at Bletchley last time out, Eddie Rennell’s side will be desperate to maintain form into the Festive period, to set up a title showdown with Peterborough in January.
They will have to overcome a strong Welwyn side to continue that winning streak, who themselves have ambition to climb up the table, currently residing in fourth position.
A loud and passionate home support could make all the difference on matchday so get behind the team for one final time on home soil this calendar year and continue momentum.
What follows this 2nd v 4th battle?
A tricky trip to Wymondham Wasps awaits in the run up to Christmas (Sun 15 Dec) before the mammoth clash against Peterborough (Sun 5 Jan) kickstarts 2025.
Between now and those games, an away friendly is anticipated to afford more match minutes to the wider squad with details on that hopefully available for public knowledge next week.
Blues Women are set to return home on Sunday 19th January against Stamford Women.
Team News
Rennell’s side fortunately came through the Bletchley tie relatively unscathed but do have some longer term injury problems to contend with ahead of Sunday’s Goldington Road encounter.
Full confirmation of the Matchday 22 will follow from 10am on Friday.
Opposition Analysis
Currently in their second season at NC1 level, Welwyn are an established side with more than a decade’s worth of experience in the English Rugby system.
No game’s easy in this division but they’ve certainly had a tougher start than most, including an away trip to league leaders Peterborough which is their only defeat so far (29-12).
They have won twice this season, 29-22 away at Wymondham and 66-0 at home against Bletchley. Last time out, they shared a 20-20 draw vs Ipswich.
Stick around for England v Japan!
