SUNDAY | Both senior sides head on the road

Posted: 11th December 2024

Both our senior sides are in away action this Sunday as Mike Rayer’s men’s side travel down to face London Scottish (KO 3pm) while Eddie Rennell’s women’s team conclude their exploits for 2024 with the long journey to Wymondham (KO 1pm).

Entrance to the women’s game completely free; tickets for London Scottish available here.

Big Game Previews

A pivotal weekend in the calendar as Rayer’s side look to wrap up a place in the Championship’s Top Four for Christmas, while Rennell’s team look to end the calendar year on the strongest footing to set up a promotion charge in 2025.

It’s 3rd vs 10th in the capital as Blues look to respond to a tough defeat against Ealing last time out, searching for a third away success of the campaign following wins against Cornish Pirates and Nottingham.

Higher up in the country over in Norfolk, it’s 3rd vs 6th with strategic table position up for grabs for the victor heading into the New Year.

We’ve Met Before

A first ever meeting between Wymondham Wasps and Bedford Blues Women but a much more historic duel takes place between two traditional Championship rugby clubs.

With close to 90 years of drama and excitement, Bedford Blues and London Scottish will meet for the 86th time on Saturday. They have always been competitive games, with neither side ever really holding too much ascendency in the fixture since a first meeting in March 1935.

However, Blues have picked up some important results recently and currently lead 43 wins to Scottish’s 39, while there have been a further three draws. Most notably, Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer celebrated his 500th game in charge of Bedford against Scottish back in April 2022.

Matchday Coverage

If you’re not heading to watch either game, we’ve got you covered! While not able to be in two places at once, information from Wymondham will be filtered across to London to try and run back-to-back live blogs of the games.
