It doesn’t all come down to this but certainly a highly critical contest in terms of the promotion picture as Bedford Blues Women look to pick up a result against Peterborough Ladies this Sunday (Kick Off 2pm).

Since the meeting at Goldington Road back in November, both sides have been near faultless with bonus points galore setting up another intriguing contest.
Eddie Rennell’s side trail the league leaders by nine points, but do have a game in hand, so if they can find a way to secure a five-point win on Sunday, destiny will move back into their own hands for the run-in.
Defeat wouldn’t be a complete disaster, however would significantly strengthen Peterborough’s chances and put one hand on the trophy. A loud and passionate away following from Bedford could make all the difference this time around.

Bedford Blues Women Captain, Lucy Middleton said: “We know this is the acid test. Peterborough have won every game with a bonus point so far this season and we’ll have to be on our mettle to stand any sort of chance.
“There are things that we can take from the game at Goldington Road in terms of confidence and try to make those the blueprint of our game plan this Sunday.
“Peterborough have won every meeting between our two teams, and we want to rewrite the history books. We know there’ll be a strong travelling support and hopefully we can put in a performance to make everyone proud.”
What follows this clash of the titans?
It’s a sprint finish from now to the end of the season with fixtures coming thick and fast, and some friendly outings expected to be announced and sandwiched in the middle of the competitive battles.
Blues Women return home on Sunday 19th January to face Stamford, tickets available here, while there’s another fixture in February, three in March, and the season finale in the first weekend of April.
Opposition Analysis
Peterborough Ladies are somewhat of a nemesis to Bedford following three wins from three in previous history. Blues have improved in each meeting and will hope to provide an 80-minute performance worthy of finally turning the tides.
The Cambridgeshire side have been imperious all season, scoring the most points and conceding the fewest of any team in the division, lastly winning 43-0 against Ipswich back in December.
