TEAM NEWS | Squad named for Championship return

Posted: 21st March 2025

Mike Rayer has named his squad as Bedford Blues prepare to begin a sprint finish to the conclusion of the Championship campaign with a trip to Hartpury University tomorrow (KO 2:30pm).

Still time to join the boys at the 4ED Hartpury Stadium with tickets available here.

Rayer’s charges will contest their final ten league fixtures across the next eleven weekends, starting on the road to fellow Top Four hopefuls, Hartpury.

Always an interesting battle between two sides with attacking intent, just three points separated them at Goldington Road back in October and another close encounter is expected again tomorrow.

Both sides have had a run out in this fallow period away from scheduled league and cup action, and will look to continue momentum after respective victories in recent weeks.

For the game, which has averaged a sharing of 55 points since a first meeting in 2017, Rayer has named a Starting XV showing three changes in comparison to the last competitive outing five weeks ago.

Seven try scorers from the traditional fixture against The British Army last time out will start the contest, led out by club captain Alex Day.

Among the replacements, Ed Prowse is set for his 50th club appearance.

Bedford Blues Starting XV:

15. Louis James, 14. Alfie Garside, 13. Michael Le Bourgeois, 12. Joel Matavesi, 11. Dean Adamson, 10. Will Maisey, 9. Alex Day (C); 1. Joey Conway, 2. Tommy Herman, 3. Oisin Heffernan, 4. Rory Ward, 5. Alex Woolford, 6. Luke Frost, 7. Joe Howard, 8. Fred Tuilagi

Bedford Blues Replacements:

16. James Fish, 17. Jamie Jack, 18. Beltus Nonleh, 19. Ed Prowse, 20. Archie Benson, 21. James Lennon, 22. Lucas Titherington, 23. Matt Worley
