MATCH FOCUS | Foundation Day Double Header

Posted: 30th April 2025

It’s all going on this Saturday as Bedford Blues return to Championship action against London Scottish, followed by Blues Women against Hertfordshire, in our annual Foundation Day at Goldington Road (Gates Open 12pm; KOs 3pm and 5:45pm).

Usual ticket discounts available for the penultimate Blues matchday of the campaign.

Big Game Previews

Mike Rayer’s men wrestled back the ascendency in the race for second spot in the league table thanks to an unbelievable team showing at runaway league leaders Ealing Trailfinders. They will look to keep up the momentum on home soil against a dangerous London Scottish outfit.

Dean Adamson aims for history with just one score needed to break the club’s record try scoring tally, desperate to achieve the feat on home soil.

Closing off the day, Eddie Rennell’s women’s team look to secure the spoils in their final home outing of 2024/25, hosting Hertfordshire in friendly action.

Foundation Day Activation

As well as the packed schedule on the pitch, there’s plenty going on off it this Foundation Day as the charitable arm of Bedford Blues celebrates five years since inception.

Watch out for the ‘Beat the Bear’ competition at half-time in partnership with matchday sponsors, B&W Waste Management, whilst all men’s players will wear socks from local community clubs during the game.

This week’s Guard of Honour, sponsored by Bellway Homes, will be formed of Diss RFC, Wymondham RFC and St Andrews RFC who are all heading to GR on tour. Make sure you give them a cheer as they step out onto the pitch to form the pre-match entrance and unveil a new Blues Family flag!

There will also be bucket collections dotted around the ground, hospitality guests can support via pre-match games, and all Eco Cup donations will also go to the charity.

Additional Entertainment

We’re ramping up the Bank Holiday festivities this matchday with a live DJ positioned on the SDC Suite terracing to bring the summer vibes all day!

Make it a full day of sport with more live action on the TVs to accompany the two games on the hallowed turf. It’s Premier League football beforehand, then Northampton Saints’ huge European semi-final v Leinster follows at 5:30pm – available in The Burrow at the Blues only.

PLEASE NOTE: The upper tier of the M&J Group Stand will be closed for the women's fixture.

Food & Drink

Head to the ground early to avoid the queues and sample all on offer. There are seven public places to get a pint and four hot food kiosks, so take a wander around and try them all. Checkout the ground map below for updated locations.

With sunny weather planned, Ice Cream Joe join us in the Mini Fan Village alongside the No.7 Coffee House Mobile Truck, a pitch side bar and food unit.

Other options to salivate those taste buds are Chicken George, Taylor’s Kitchens and another Burger & Sausage hut near the main entrance.

Hospitality

Saturday’s fixture is a complete hospitality sellout yet again! There’s limited availability for our final home outing of the campaign v Chinnor (Sat 24 Apr), contact us ASAP to book in!
