Parkinson’s UK Bedford Fundraising Total
Bedford Blues are delighted to confirm that Parkinson’s UK Bedford & District Support Group raised a fundraising total of £4,000 at the recent matchday with Nottingham.
One of the best performances in recent memory on the pitch, was matched by a fun filled day off it with a whole host of activation aiding the fundraising efforts of our chosen charity partner.
Our loyal #BluesFamily helped raise the total through generous donations, bucket collections and taking part in heads & tails games in hospitality areas.
Thank you to Rock Choir for helping stage a fantastic afternoon spectacle, with a stunning half-time performance on the pitch in addition to a 30-minute pre-game show.
Bedford Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred said: “The generosity of our #BluesFamily never ceases to amaze, and we’re humbled to have been able to support Parkinson’s UK Bedford as part of their full week of activation.
“It’s been fantastic to work with Sue and the team, learning about the support available locally. To be able to help them continue their specialist provision for those who require it most in our local area and even wider afield is extremely fulfilling. Thank you once again to everyone who came in support.”
Parkinson's UK Bedford and District Support Group's Lead Volunteer Sue Kiddy added: "This is an incredible amount to raise from one afternoon! On behalf of the Group, I'd like to thank Gareth, the entire Bedford Blues team and their supporters for the overwhelming generosity and kindness.
"The money will go a long way to help us continue our life-changing work providing physical and social activities and support to local people with Parkinson's and their partners and carers. Many thanks, too, to the Rock Choir for turning out in such large numbers to sing for us. With the Blues' amazing win, it was a brilliant way to end our week of World Parkinson's Day fundraising and awareness events in Bedford."
