SATURDAY | Both Senior Sides On The Road
Both our senior sides are in away action this Saturday as Mike Rayer’s men travel to face Doncaster Knights (KO 2:30pm) while Eddie Rennell’s women compete in their penultimate league fixture of 24/25 with the long journey to Wymondham (KO 2pm).

A pivotal weekend in the calendar as both teams look to defend their respective second spots in league tables.
Rayer’s charges face one of their toughest encounters of the campaign against the league’s form side, Doncaster. Hunting a first win at Castle Park since 2012, this is a real litmus test for the team as they look to hold off the chasing pack of Coventry and Hartpury.
Over in Norfolk, our women’s side know maximum points will be enough to wrap up the runners up position in their first ever season at NC1 level. Blues were victorious against Ipswich on opening weekend, but will face an altogether different test on the road this time around.
We’ve Met Before
Just a second ever meeting between Ipswich Women and Bedford Blues Women but a much more historic duel takes place between two traditional rugby clubs.
Bedford and Doncaster have met on 42 previous occasions in competitive action. The Knights currently hold the superior head-to-head record with 21 victories to the Blues’ 18, while there have also been three draws.
Bedford won the first meeting between the sides in September 2005 – Mike Rayer’s first home match as DoR of the Club – as Donny arrived in National One following a surge up the rugby pyramid.
One of the toughest places to go in the Championship, Bedford will be in search of a first victory at Castle Park since November 2012, when Brendan Burke converted a late Josh Bassett try to secure a 22-21 victory.
