Joey Conway continues spell in Bedford

Bedford Blues are pleased to announce that fresh from making his 100th club appearance on Saturday, loosehead prop Joey Conway has agreed to continue his spell at Goldington Road into a fifth season.
Since arrival in 2021, Conway has been a mainstay in the matchday squad, featuring in 100 out of a possible 106 matches in the past four years. The Irishman has taken to the field in all of the last 63 competitive outings, last missing out on a team sheet back in February 2023.
A lethal try scoring threat, the 27-year-old has added 25 during his time at Goldington Road – ending 22/23 as the highest scoring forward and backing that up again last season by jointly taking the accolade.
On re-committing his future, Conway said: “Ever since I joined the club, it's been like a home away from home. Since day one, I've been welcomed and it has a very special place in my heart.
"We're a team that's always next game focused. Last game at home this Saturday, against Chinnor, and we want to put on a performance that we're proud of. It's the last memory this group will have of Goldington Road, so we want to make it a good one.
"This is the most consistent we've been since I joined. At home, it's down to the support we get - everyone gets behind us, it gives us a real buzz and energy. We want to continue that home record next season as well, but first we need to deal with Saturday."
Conway becomes the fourth forward confirmed as remaining at Goldington Road following recent announcements for Fred Tuilagi, Rory Ward and James Fish.
The 22/23 Followers Player of the Year has become a real fan favourite since arrival and has grown into one of the leaders of the pack in recent seasons.
