Louis James signs for second season

Posted: 29th May 2025

Bedford Blues are delighted to announce that one of the Championship’s most in-form players, Louis James has pledged his future to the club for a second season at Goldington Road.

The 23-year-old has been one of the standout performers all season from full-back, but has really hit a purple patch of form lately with five tries in the last two games, and ten try involvements throughout May.

On confirming his stay at Goldington Road into next season, James said: “There was no other decision in my mind – I’ve loved this first year and looking to step even further forward in 2025/26.

“Personally I’ve loved the work-life balance as well, it was a different experience at the start, but I’ve grown into that. It’s allowed me to feel welcome within Bedford and able to play my best rugby.

“There’s a real good core of the squad staying and we all want to continue on this upwards trajectory.”

Born in Northampton, James was a graduate of the Coventry Academy before stepping up to the first team and holding down a regular spot for several years.

Heading to Bedford 12 months ago, he has been pretty much an ever present in the side, making 26 appearances and adding 14 crucial tries along the way.

Blues would like to thank Blackchair for renewing their player sponsorship of James into 2025/26.
