Rory Ward continues stay in Bedford

Posted: 14th May 2025

Bedford Blues are pleased to announce that second row forward Rory Ward has re-signed for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

The 22-year-old moved to Goldington Road 12 months ago following the conclusion of his university studies and has made a noticeable impression already, making 18 appearances.

On committing his future to Bedford’s premier sporting club, Ward said: “We've got a really good core group of the boys sticking around for next season so can't really wait to rip in off the back of what has been a very good 24/25 campaign.

"There's still a job to be done this season, three games left and we're focusing on the next game and not too much further ahead. There's a task at hand, which is to try and secure second spot, and we all need to stick to task to stand a chance.

"The togetherness of the group has been massive this year, helping us pull through when the games have been tight - Bristol at home, Pirates away, Ealing away. We've helped each other through it."

A former member of the Northampton Saints DPP pathway, Ward made a few guest appearances for top-flight, Newcastle Falcons in the Premiership Rugby Cup back in 22/23 as part of his time at Newcastle University.

He also made a few appearances for Ampthill as part of his progression in the game, as well as featuring heavily for the University First XV throughout his time in the North East.
