Tommy Herman signs up for 25-26 campaign
Bedford Blues retain more continuity in their forwards pack with the news that Tommy Herman will spend a second season at Goldington Road having agreed to remain part of the #BluesFamily for the 2025-26 campaign.
The 21-year-old has been a revelation in his debut campaign at Championship level, having made the step up from nearby Olney RFC at the start of the season.
Herman, who has benefitted greatly from working alongside Forwards Coach, Tom Cruse and James Fish, has made 23 appearances, chipping in with five important tries along the way – four of which against rivals, Ampthill.
On continuing his stay in Bedford, Herman said: “I’ve really enjoyed this year, it’s been a special one for both myself and the club. I felt at home right away joining up permanently 12 months ago and I can’t wait to be part of it all again.
“Being able to learn off Tom Cruse and James Fish has been really good for my development. This season has been like a building block for me, getting my confidence and hopefully able to put an even better version of myself on the pitch next year.
“The continuity of the front row is really exciting. A lot to play for next season and something we’re all ready for.”
Herman, who left Olney having won both the 1st XV Player of the Season and Players’ Player awards in his final season, spent his entire senior career with the Buckinghamshire club before heading to Goldington Road.
He was invited to bolster Blues’ ranks for the Mobbs Memorial Match against The British Army in 2024 and hasn’t looked back since, having made a big impression during the contest to earn the step up to the second tier.
Herman became the latest in a long line of players to tread the path from Olney to Bedford Blues, with notable previous incumbents being the likes of Edgar Mobbs and Duncan Taylor.
