Ilan Evans joins the ranks

Bedford Blues are pleased to bolster their options in the engine room with the addition of exciting young prospect, Ilan Evans from RGC 1404 in Super Rygbi Cymru.

The 23-year-old, who progressed through the Academy pathway at the North Walian club, has been a regular figure in their team since a debut five years ago – helping them reach the post season play-off structure in the inaugural edition of the restructured Welsh top flight.

Not afraid to travel, Evans spent last Summer in Australia playing in the Shute Shield for Sydney University – the latest in a long line to head Down Under to experience rugby in the Southern Hemisphere.

Evans follows a well-trodden path from the Welsh top flight to Champ Rugby, with Robin Williams having most recently done so at Bedford, alongside many others across the league.

On hopping across the border to join Mike Rayer’s side, Evans said: “I’m super excited to join the club, a new opportunity for me and a chance to play in England for the first time. With Bedford doing so well last season, it was something I couldn’t turn down.

“I’ve spoken to a lot of former players, and I’ve only heard great things about the club. I know the history of Bedford Blues, and I can’t wait to learn from my teammates next season.

“To be in a winning environment is going to be a truly incredible experience and something I’m really looking forward to. I’m truly honoured to get this opportunity and I’m going to give it my all and hopefully entertain.”

Blues would like to thank B&W Waste Management for their sponsorship of Evans into the new season.

Evans becomes the latest to join the #BluesFamily in 25-26 – don’t miss out on Early Bird Season Tickets to secure your spot for every home fixture. Full details and info available here.
