TEAM NEWS | Women’s squad named for Harpenden trip

Posted: 2nd October 2025

Eddie Rennell has named his squad as Bedford Blues Women look to make it back-to-back victories to start their NC1 (East) campaign, travelling on the road to Harpenden this Sunday (Kick Off 3pm).

After an impressive 11 try victory over Ipswich two weeks ago, Rennell’s side will be in confident mood, but will need to keep improving if they are to maintain momentum across a long season.

Harpenden are newly promoted to the league follow a strong campaign last time out, suffering a narrow defeat at Hitchin on opening weekend. The two sides faced each other two years ago, Blues edging both ties on their way to an unbeaten campaign.

For the trip to Redbourn Lane, Rennell has been forced into four changes with a multitude of unavailability this weekend.

In the backs division, Lauren Freeman is handed a debut at outside centre, while Gemma Cook starts on the left wing having scored off the bench last time out in Suffolk.

There is another debutant in the forwards pack as Elin Crabb partners captain Kelly Hodgson in the second row, while Megan Solomon is in from the off amid a number of positional changes at the back of the scrum.

Among the replacements, Angel Boateng is in line for her first minutes of the new season.
