2025 | A Year in Numbers
As we prepare to bring the curtain down on 2025, there’s time to reminisce on what’s gone before and reflect on what has been another vintage year for Bedford Blues – once again setting it up nicely for what’s to come.
There were some more unbelievable occasions for the #BluesFamily to enjoy both on and off the pitch – including Dean Adamson becoming the greatest ever club try scorer, Will Maisey drop goaling a conversion, plus many more besides.
Statistically speaking, 2025 represented the club’s best return since 1997 – a win percentage of 75.86%, finishing second in the league for the first time in 13 years, scoring more tries than ever before and continuing to make Goldington Road the best place to be on any given matchday.
Elsewhere, international rugby was staged on the hallowed turf, another fantastic Ladies Day raising vital funds for Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice, yet again a jam-packed Fireworks Display & Funfair and continued developments at the Club.
Bedford Blues Women also had a fantastic year – and currently sit top of NC1 – while Bedford Junior Blues brought home a whole host of trophies and continue to develop the next generation.
Many tough challenges lie ahead, but for now it’s time to reflect on what’s gone before with some of the statistics you may have missed throughout 2024…
Club Statistics
Across 2025, the senior Bedford Blues men’s team contested a total of 29 fixtures. Mike Rayer’s side won on 22 occasions, drawing a thriller with Nottingham and suffering just six defeats. Highlights include winning a first trophy in 20 years with the Baker Brothers Bedfordshire Cup, making it five on the spin down in Cornwall plus many more memories to last a lifetime.
A total of 159 tries were scored (36 more than in 2024), at an average of just under 5.5 per fixture. There were 12 Try of the Week wins – more than all the other competitors combined – and more tries for the ages as Blues continued to showcase edge of your seat action.
Across the calendar year, Rayer’s side averaged 37.2 points a game having scored 1,080, a massive 262 more than 12 months previous.

29 – Only club captain, Alex Day featured in every game throughout the calendar year.
28 – The sextet of Will Maisey, Jamie Jack, Tommy Herman, Oisin Heffernan, Michael Le Bourgeois and Louis James missed only one game.

25 – Dean Adamson
Most Tries
24 – Way out in-front for this category, Dean Adamson had another lethal year (one of his best on record) chipping in with six more than 2024.

Most Points
283 – For the fifth calendar year in succession, Will Maisey topped the charts for Bedford Blues, also accumulating his best annual total since joining the club (previous best 200). He now has 939 points from 124 appearances.
Record Breaker
Saturday 3rd May 2025 will be etched into the Dean Adamson record books as he made history by becoming Blues’ all-time leading try scorer, dotting down his 146th try against London Scottish. He currently has 162 from 217 games.
Notable Appearance Milestones
200 – Like London buses, you wait almost a decade for a double centurion and then two come along in the space of six months. Dean Adamson ascended to those heights on the occasion of his 32nd birthday in April (he also scored five that day) while Michael Le Bourgeois also hit the milestone on the opening game of Champ Rugby in October.
100 – Three players entered the century club this year; Will Maisey was first before Joey Conway and Alex Day achieved that feat in successive May weekends as Blues finished the 24/25 season with seven successive bonus point wins.
50 – With the core group together for the past few seasons, there were several players to rack up 50 appearances during 2025; namely Ed Prowse, Jamie Jack and Oisin Heffernan.
Leaguewide Milestones
Blues duo Will Maisey (235 points) and Dean Adamson (20 tries) both took home end of season prizes from Champ Rugby as the respective leading try scorer and top marksman. Both are currently well placed to try and retain their crowns in the coming months.
A Legendary Director of Rugby
Mike Rayer celebrated the conclusion of his 20th campaign in charge back in May. In charge of the team for 2025’s historic year, leading things from the tee back in 1997. Forever engrained in key moments throughout Blues history.
