MATCH FOCUS | Blues Women on home soil this Sunday
Join us on Sunday as rugby finally returns to Goldington Road as Bedford Blues Women contest their first fixture of 2026 by hosting Harpenden Women (Gates Open 12pm; Kick off 2pm).

After last week’s postponement, the team are champing at the bit to get out on the field, now with the added bonus of running out in-front of their loyal #BluesFamily to kickstart 2026.
They have been mercurial all season and December’s victory at Colchester has given them the advantage in the title race, now sitting top of the shop by two points and a game in hand.
Harpenden Women, contesting their first season at this NC1 level following promotion last Summer, will be looking to spring an upset and secure a first victory of the campaign this weekend. They battled to a 17-17 draw against West Norfolk last week.
Team News
Eddie Rennell makes one change to the team that was set to take to the field last weekend in Wymondham, as Catherine Chambers is able to make a return to partner captain, Kelly Hodgson for a familiar second row pairing.
He is able to call upon a full replacements bench this week with greater availability across the squad, a useful adage meaning Blues Women can make the full set of changes permitted during the game.
So Far This Season
As highlighted above, the start to the season has been incredibly strong from a league perspective, with a maximum 30 points from those available in Blues Women’s second season at this level.
Bedford head into the game possessing the two key statistics – most points scored as well as the least conceded. They will be expecting another tough challenge against a side with previous Goldington Road experience, however, and will be more determined than ever to get a result.
What follows Sunday’s clash?
With Colchester and Stamford awaiting any potential slip-ups, Rennell’s charges know there’s no room for error in their quest for promotion, facing both of their nearest competitors in upcoming fixtures.
Sunday’s game is the first of six scheduled home matches to come in the following months, and potentially more dependant on progression in the plate competition, plus a couple of tough away outings thrown in for good measure.

Only the Apron Seats within The M&J Group Stand will be in use on Sunday, operated on a first come, first served basis; alongside pitch side standing room.
